P P Savani University (PPSU) achieved a major milestone in healthcare and medical education on 21 August 2026 with the official inauguration of the SPANDAN Simulation Centre for Experiential Learning at its Kosamba, Surat campus. Designed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world patient care, this state-of-the-art facility marks a transformative step toward technology-enabled, competency-based education.
The inauguration was graced by Shri Praful Pansheriya, Hon’ble Health Minister of Gujarat, as Chief Guest, and Shri Vallabhbhai Lakhani of Kiran Gems as Guest of Honour. The event saw the presence of Shri Vallabhbhai Savani (President, PPSU), Director Sneh Savani, Provost Dr. Parag Sanghani, the Registrar, members of the Board of Trustees, and leadership heads from medical institutions across South Gujarat.

Safe, Hands-On Practice Before Real Patient Care:
The SPANDAN Simulation Centre offers students a safe, controlled environment to practice and master clinical techniques before treating real patients. By integrating high-fidelity patient simulators, modern medical hardware, and immersive Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) scenarios, SPANDAN turns clinical concepts into active, hands-on experience.

Key Clinical Training Capabilities:
-
Emergency & Critical Care: Intensive training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS), and fast-paced triage management.
-
Core Clinical Procedures: Practical drills for intravenous (IV) line insertion, administering injections, and non-invasive patient diagnostics.
-
AR & VR Scenarios: Immersive simulations that test rapid decision-making, clinical reasoning, and critical judgment under pressure.
Fostering Interdisciplinary Healthcare Teams
Modern healthcare relies on collaborative team dynamics. SPANDAN is structured to serve students across all five of PPSU’s specialized healthcare institutions:
-
P P Savani School of Nursing
-
P P Savani Ayurvedic College & Hospital
-
P P Savani Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital
-
P P Savani School of Physiotherapy
-
P P SavaniSchool of Pharmacy
By learning together under one roof, students gain an understanding of complementary medical disciplines, developing interprofessional communication, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to patient-centered care.
Building Confidence Without Compromising Safety
During the facility tour, dignitaries observed live demonstrations of advanced training methodologies. Addressing the gathering, Health Minister Shri Praful Pansheriya praised PPSU’s forward-thinking approach, noting that tech-enabled experiential learning is crucial for building a resilient healthcare workforce. Provost Dr. Parag Sanghani re-emphasized that repeated simulation allows students to learn from mistakes without compromising patient safety, ensuring they enter the medical field with refined skills and high confidence.
The establishment of the SPANDAN Simulation Centre reaffirms P P Savani University’s commitment to outcome-based education—preparing a new generation of skilled, compassionate, and future-ready healthcare leaders.
