Dr. Anurag Acharya, a distinguished Yoga therapist, graced the session as an expert, leading participants through a harmonious fusion of physical postures and mindfulness practices. This immersive experience allowed attendees to reap the profound benefits of yoga, fostering a serene and enriching atmosphere that left them with renewed well-being and a heightened grasp of holistic health principles.
The Alumni Talk on Developing Entrepreneurial Skills among Physiotherapists was held on 22nd March 2025. The event aimed to inspire and equip physiotherapy students and professionals with essential entrepreneurial skills, promoting innovation and excellence in the field. The session which are covered : Overview of entrepreneurial opportunities in physiotherapy, sharing experiences and insights on starting and growing a business and Interactive Q&A session, allowing attendees to ask questions and gain valuable advice.
The School of Physiotherapy at P P Savani University, in collaboration with the NSS unit, successfully organized a cleanliness drive at Mota Mandir, Kosamba. The event aimed to promote community hygiene and well-being. This event was organized on 28th March 2025. Participants worked together to clean the premises, raise awareness about sanitation, and foster community engagement. The event reinforced the importance of social responsibility and community service. The cleanliness drive contributed to the overall well-being of the community and promoted a sense of social responsibility among participants. The event was a success, and the organizers plan to continue such initiatives in the future.
School of Physiotherapy, P P Savani University, in association with the NSS Unit, organized an Awareness Session on Cleanliness for school students of Kosamba on 28th March 2025. This initiative aimed to promote hygiene, environmental responsibility, and the importance of cleanliness among young learners to encourage lifelong healthy habits. The session received an enthusiastic response from students and school staff. Students actively participated in discussions and pledged to maintain cleanliness at home and in school. Teachers appreciated the initiative and requested regular sessions to reinforce good hygiene habits. The cleanliness awareness session was successful in achieving its objectives by engaging students in an educational yet enjoyable manner. It contributed to spreading the message of health, hygiene, and environmental responsibility, aligning with national efforts like the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The School of Physiotherapy, P P Savani University, in collaboration with NSS, conducted an awareness program on “Menstrual Hygiene” for 70 girl students at District Upper Primary School, Kosamba. Fifteen BPT students from the 7th semester performed a thought-provoking drama to educate the audience on essential facts, common myths and proper hygiene practices during menstruation. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Principal, Registrar and Provost Sir for their unwavering support. This initiative not only enhanced awareness but also provided a valuable learning experience, emphasizing the significance of health education and teamwork.
The School of Physiotherapy, P P Savani University, organized an Ergonomics Awareness and Training Session for industrial workers at Arbuda Ice Factory, Ankleshwar GIDC, on 10th and 11th February 2025, along with the NSS unit. This session aimed to educate factory workers on safe work practices, posture correction, and the importance of ergonomics in daily industrial tasks to prevent musculoskeletal disorders and improve workplace efficiency.
Dr. Vrunda Makwana and Dr. Mona Patel conducted interactive lectures, demonstrations, and on-site posture assessments. Workers were taught simple stretching routines, lifting techniques, and seated postural corrections to reduce strain and fatigue. The session was well-received, and the participants engaged actively, asking relevant questions about their specific work conditions and body mechanics.
School of Physiotherapy, P P Savani University, in association with the NSS Unit, celebrated World Health Day at school of Panoli on 7th April 2025 with the objective of raising awareness about global health issues and promoting healthy living among the university community and the public. The theme for this year, as per WHO guidelines, was “My Health, My Right”, emphasizing the importance of accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare for all.

Dr. Tarang Jain, Adjunct faculty of P.P.Savani School of Physiotherapy and Associate Professor from Arizona University, US, delivered his insights on Education, licensing, and practice of PT in the United States to students was enlightening and informative. He has given a comprehensive overview of the opportunities available for aspiring physiotherapists beyond borders.
The School of Physiotherapy, P P Savani University, in collaboration with NSS, staged a colorful celebration at Navagam Village, Kamrej, on 10th International Yoga Day with the subject of "Yoga for Self and Society" to promote yoga and its advantages among the people. Over sixty locals eagerly participated in the morning yoga exercises and prayers that kicked off the program. A variety of yoga poses were shown, emphasizing the benefits of health and mindfulness.
The School of Physiotherapy at P P Savani University celebrated Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2024 with great enthusiasm. BPT students actively participated in various engaging competitions such as poster presentation, body painting, and a treasure hunt centered on physiotherapy themes. The celebration also featured lively performances including dance drama and interactive games like dumb charades, making the event both educational and entertaining.
On 13th September 2024, the School of Physiotherapy at P P Savani University organized an expert talk titled "Assessing Physiotherapy Outcomes: The Role of Randomized Control Trials." Dr. Harshvardhan Singh from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA, delivered the session, providing valuable insights into research methodologies for students and faculty.
A total of 16 students from the P P Savani University School of Physiotherapy were chosen for the three-day "Public Leadership Camp" that was held there from January 6–8, 2023. They had passed the screening and interview processes to be chosen as one of the "Top 100" participants from more than 65 academic institutions and 1500 applications from across the state. The camp provided excellent opportunities for interaction with the more than 16 well-known community leaders who served as its trainers, and all of the participants developed their leadership skills as a result.
On January 21, 2023, Saakshi NGO and the School of Physiotherapy collaborated to host a one-day webinar titled "Stop Child Sexual Abuse POSCO Act 2012" as part of NSS activities. It lasted for an hour and a half. Students filled out pre- and post-assessment forms that asked about child sexual abuse. Students are made aware of the POSCO Act, what constitutes child sexual abuse, and how to put a stop to it through this webinar. Such webinars and seminars must be held frequently to raise awareness of strange behaviours, how to put a stop to them, and the importance of equality.
The PANCH PRAKALP COMMITTEE of SOP organised the G20 Discussion on "HOW TO BECOME A GREAT ENTREPRENEUR" on February 16, 2023. During this debate, a number of closely related themes were debated, and a number of government awareness-raising initiatives were carried out. Students actively participated and demonstrated their academic interests by engaging in a few cultural events; winners received recognition and certificates. A camp or academic conference should be organised for the neighbourhood.
A total of Seven NSS volunteers from SOP have attended a training session on Road safety measurements organized by the Save Life Foundation (SLF), which is bonded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The main aim of this training was to decrease the number of major accidents on national highways/ express highways. They want to Create a “Zero Fatality Corrido “(ZFC). Students have learned the basic rules of driving vehicles, what safety measures to take, and what to do during emergencies, like how to lift and transfer people in the ambulance. There were practical sessions on CPR and basic life support techniques. Students have experienced great knowledge during this training. It will be beneficial to their family members as well as to society. Such kind of training should be conducted on a regular basis.
The students of the School of Physiotherapy attended International Yoga Day, which was organized by the Government of Gujarat at Y Junction Surat. Students had shown their dedication and hard work for this event. They tried to maintain all the rules and norms of the event. They make this event successful with a higher number of participations and help to achieve names in the Guinness Book of World Records. The type of events should be conducted at a regular level to develop enthusiasm and leadership qualities. They will teach the society about the importance of Yoga in everyday life.
On World Cerebral Palsy Day, it is truly commendable to learn that the School of Physiotherapy, under the guidance of Dr Ekta Mehta and Dr. Mona Patel, collaborated with WBVF (World Bharuchi Vahora Federation) and Rotary Club, Bharuch to organize a camp at Mamtha Clinic in Baruch. This event holds immense significance in creating awareness about cerebral palsy and supporting affected individuals and their families. The participation of 6th-semester students in presenting skits and posters displays their creativity and helps in disseminating information effectively. The involvement of faculties in providing insights into cerebral palsy and offering parent counselling is crucial. it was indeed an exclusively thoughtful even by the school of physiotherapy.
Dr. Asha curated an alumni talk on October 7th, 2023, featuring Mr. Gaurav Samnani. The discussion centered on "Higher Education in Physiotherapy Practice in the UK." Samnani shared valuable insights into pursuing advanced education in sports medicine, shedding light on academic and clinical pathways, specialization opportunities, and the evolving landscape of physiotherapy practice in the UK. The event offered practical advice for individuals aspiring to excel in sports medicine and physiotherapy careers in the UK, fostering a sense of community and shared knowledge among attendees and final-year students as well.
The Inter IIT Sports Meet stands as a flagship annual sports event exclusively organized for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This competitive tournament gathers talented athletes from various IIT campuses, showcasing their skills across multiple sporting disciplines.
Interns from the School of Physiotherapy hold pivotal positions at the ongoing Inter IIT Sports Meet at IIT Gandhinagar deployed from the 4th of October to the 8th of October and, from the 14th to the 22nd of December. Their primary commitment revolves around delivering on-field physiotherapy services to the participating athletes. These dedicated interns offer immediate support, rehabilitation aid, and specialized care for any injuries or physical strains encountered during the intense competitions. Their focus remains steadfast on ensuring the well-being and optimal performance of all participants throughout the entirety of this significant sporting event.
On October 10, 2023, a CME on Spinal and Peripheral Manual Therapy was conducted, featuring Dr. Dibyendunarayan Bid as the resource person. Third-year BPT students, Interns, and Alumni students eager to enhance their skills in manual therapy attended the event, hosted at the School of Physiotherapy. Dr. Bid’s expertise shone through as he delved into the intricacies of manual therapy techniques, sharing a wealth of knowledge and practical insights. Students were engaged in hands-on sessions and various peripheral joint techniques were learned.
Providing educational videos on a university website is an excellent way to benefit students. These videos can enhance learning experiences, provide visual demonstrations, and facilitate comprehension of complex concepts. By incorporating various subjects and topics, students can access the content they need at their convenience.

On September 8th, 2023, the P. P. Savani University School of Physiotherapy hosted a poster presentation and booth-making competition, which was followed by fun games for the students. The event's themes were "Prevention by Physiotherapy" and "Misconcepts and Myths of Physiotherapy." Based on the theme, students came up with some good ideas that they articulated more plainly. For students, a creative learning method also includes some enjoyment.
The School of Physiotherapy organized an "Essay Writing Competition" on 12th September 2023 as an NSS Foundation Day celebration. NSS Volunteers have managed the overall event very well. Various topics were given to the participants for essay writing. A total of 88 students from different schools of P P Savani University participated. Students had great learning experiences and they showed creativity and enthusiasm. They followed all the disciplinary timing and tried to carry out the event in an organized way. They motivated other students to participate in such events.
SOP has celebrated and organised a number of events in conjunction with the "NSS Foundation Day" celebration. The School of Physiotherapy and Nursing organised a rangoli competition on September 18, 2023. The event has "Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav" as its subject. Through the use of colour and lovely messages in their Rangolis, the students displayed their ingenuity. School of Physiotherapy organised a MINDFULNESS, MEDITATION, AND ART THERAPY session on September 21, 2023. Dr. Ashish Mathur and Dr. Vrunda Makwana provided information on how to deal with stressors in daily life by using various meditation and art therapy techniques. This improved the students' capacity for thought, focus, and problem solving. Through art therapy, students learned to communicate their feelings and social interactions.
Regular lung screenings help monitor lung function over time, enabling timely intervention if any changes occur. On World Lung Day (September 25, 2023), the P. P. Savani School of Physiotherapy organised a lung screening test for the teaching faculty of PPSU. Dr.Vrushika, Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapist, provided personalised advice and treatments to improve lung health.
On World Heart Day, the School of Physiotherapy at P P Savani University took an important step in raising awareness about the significance of heart health. The School of Physiotherapy organized an “E-poster session,” which likely involved creating and presenting electronic posters to educate students about heart-related issues.
One notable highlight of this event was the involvement of Ms Meghna from the School of Nursing, who played a crucial role in imparting hands-on training to BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) students. Her focus was on teaching them the essentials of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

A one-day Colloquium on Ethical Research in Health Science was organised by the PPSU Ethical Review Committee on June 30, 2023, a Friday at PP Savani University. In order to update the knowledge of ethics in research for PhD scholars, Researchers, and Academicians, numerous specialists in the field of biomedical ethics and research from the Gujarat state have come and provided their invaluable insights. Medical professionals have attended the colloquium from several Surat-area institutions. Leading specialists in the healthcare industry and ethical researchers, including Prof. Dr Vikas Desai, Mr Siddaram Sarate, Dr Surbala Devi, Dr Amol Dongre, Dr Devang Rana, and Dr Amit Thakkar, were present as chief speakers at this special event at PPSU. The university is thankful to the Provost Dr Parag Sanghani sir and Registrar Dr Satish Biradar Sir for the great initiative.
P.P. Savani School of Physiotherapy Organized webinar on the topic "Role of the brain in chronic pain". Dr Rafi Ahmed, adjunct faculty of SOP was the resource person. He is currently working as Senior Specialist in the Ministry of Health, Kuwait.He discussed various new updates on chronic pain in the human body and delivered how it should be managed by various methods like GMI, mindfulness, CBT etc.
It was an in-depth presentation with lots of previous year's theory, treatment and case studies which he sees in the daily routine.
P.P. Savani School of Physiotherapy organized 2 days’ workshop on the topic “Therapeutic Yoga as applied to Physiotherapy". This 2 days hands-on workshop on Therapeutic Yoga was organised in line with the conventional approach to patient treatment, uses and correct application for Therapeutic Yoga poses by Dr. Anurag Acharya. He discussed various Bio-mechanically correct postures of Yoga and Surya Namaskar. This was a new learning for all the students and faculties of SOP in Yoga Practices.
On 11th and 12th June 2022, A 2 Days hands-on workshop on Manual therapy approaches with Neurodynmics application was organised in SOP. Dr Vijay Goyal (MPT, UK, Manual therapy) taught students of SOP an application of manual therapy along with Neurodynamics technique. All students were able to understand the mechanics of manual techniques conjunct with Neurodynamics and got depth knowledge on it.
Physiotherapy day was celebrated on 12 September 2022, on theme of Osteoarthritis. Various cultural activities were conducted in regards to a celebration. Activities like, Rangoli completion, Body/Face painting, Dance, Drama, Mime and sports and fitness games were played. Students participated with motivation and portrait their academic interests by performing few cultural activities in depth.
On 12 th December 2022, School of physiotherapy, P P Savani University had conducted an international Workshop, which was delivered by Dr Cynthia Srikesavan who currently working as a senior researcher at University of Oxford and involves in Cross cultural adaptation of patient related outcome measures in various languages. Gujarati translation team, PhD Scholars, faculties and all the Interns from School of physiotherapy participated in it.
Final year BPT STUDENTS visited GNDU (Guru Nana Dev University) Campus on 24th of December 2022 and visited its Sports and Physiotherapy departments of institute in Amritsar followed by Manali trek. Students witnessed exercise physiology lab and how there athlete’s rehabilitation is being conducted. Furthermore, educational trip should be organize for maintaining motivation in students for the profession.
